A note from Mina, who built Morela
I have two kids under five and not much spare time, but I always cook for my family. That part was never the problem. The problem was the guilt of opening my fridge and finding things I'd let go to waste, simply because I didn't know what to do with them.
It turns out I'm not alone. The USDA estimates that 30 to 40 percent of the food supply in the US goes to waste, and the average family of four loses about $1,500 a year to food that never gets eaten.
Every time I looked up a recipe, it called for three ingredients I didn't have, so I'd either skip cooking that idea entirely or add a grocery run to an already packed day. With two kids, that wasn't realistic most nights.
Morela is the app I wished existed: one that starts with what's already in my kitchen, not with a shopping list.
If you've ever stared into your fridge knowing there's something you could make, but not quite what, I think you'll like this.
