Frequently asked questions

How does pantry scanning work?

You can add items to your pantry three ways: type them in manually, scan a product barcode, or use AI Vision to snap a photo of your groceries. With AI Vision, Morela's camera recognizes the food items in the photo and adds them for you — no typing required. Once items are in your pantry, Morela uses them to suggest recipes and keeps your list updated as you cook.

How does the AI generate recipes?

Morela looks at the ingredients currently in your pantry and builds recipe ideas around what you already have, so you cook with what's on hand instead of shopping for something new. Recipe generation is powered by Anthropic's Claude. Recipes are suggestions — always use your own judgment on cooking times, allergens, and food safety before preparing a meal.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Morela subscriptions are billed by Apple. To cancel, open your device Settings, tap your name at the top, choose Subscriptions, select Morela, and tap Cancel Subscription. If you cancel during your 7-day free trial before it ends, you won't be charged. Your premium features stay active until the end of the current billing period.

Is my data private?

Yes. We don't sell your personal data. Your pantry and account data are stored securely with Supabase, and photos you scan are processed only to identify food and generate recipes — not for advertising. You can delete your account and data anytime from within the app. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

Does Morela work in Japanese?

Yes. Morela fully supports Japanese as well as English, including recipes and the interface. You can switch languages in the app to match your preference.

What happens to my streak if I miss a day?

Cooking streaks are meant to be a gentle nudge, not pressure. Streaks track the days you cook with Morela. Missing a day simply resets the streak — your pantry and saved recipes are never affected.
